What to Expect in a Session With Me

What I have noticed since becoming a therapist is that it’s nearly impossible to use a one size fits all approach from a counseling perspective. I utilize a more holistic approach and like to think about all aspects of the person sitting in front of me rather than just looking at their presenting symptoms to choose which approach to apply. I have found this eclectic approach to be most effective in my practice. I use a variety of modalities, including  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness, among others. Additionally, I am formally trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) which can be used to treat many forms of trauma. A bonus of working with me as your therapist is that sometimes, my cat will pop in to introduce herself in a session or two! I look forward to meeting you!

A Little About Me

I have always been the person who’s favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch with a good book and a cozy blanket. My ultimate dream is to have a Beauty and the Beast style library, but for now I’ll settle with my thrifted bookshelves that are too full for their own good. When I’m not home reading, I’m usually at a concert! I ended up in the Richmond area because I found myself traveling here so often to catch the next show so it just made sense to stick around. I love finding ways to incorporate music into therapy and am always open for recommendations!
