What to Expect in a Session With Me
In a session with me, I will utilize various core values and skills such as motivational interviewing, active listening, and most importantly showing empathy towards you and your inner world that you are trusting me to learn about. I would provide a safe holding space, without pressure to rush into difficult subjects but instead to remind you that I will try my best to meet you where you are and work towards a level of vulnerability that harbors meaningful and positive change. In terms of goal setting, I am mostly focused on honoring your growth and progress because that is what’s most important, and I will be as encouraging as I can along the way. Overall, you can expect an environment where your thoughts and feelings are valued regardless of how challenging it may be to discuss, I aim to collaborate as a team and work on processing adversities together.
A Little About Me
I enjoy investing my time in activities that lead me to tap into my creativity, such as gardening or word search puzzles. I hold a Bachelor's of Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and I am now pursuing my Master's of Social Work! I am studying clinical social work which allows me to actively apply theories to practice while understanding the role that social injustices have in mental and emotional health. Aside from social work, I’m also a painter and enjoy working on landscapes, abstract art, and animals! The majority of my paintings are related to nature because of how symbolic and soothing it can be. I believe strongly in the impact of creative expressionism and healing, and I hope to inspire others! One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my cat or take care of my plants, I also love going on long walks to clear my head and observe what’s around me.
