What to Expect in a Session With Me
While in session, I employ an empathetic, person centered approach catered to the individual’s needs. I believe the therapeutic relationship and feeling properly supported are the biggest aids in walking towards the lifepath you want to live. I have many techniques I regularly mention to those I work with such as those practiced in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic techniques, and Mindfulness training. I often utilize direct communication backed with psychoeducational resources for aiding others in understanding their symptoms and implementing their
skills.
I have spent the past two and a half years working alongside the Veteran Affairs Administration at an outpatient facility catered towards veterans, first responders, active duty military, and those with complex trauma histories. Due to this, I’ve sought training on the implementation of Brainspotting, a powerful method of processing previous experiences of trauma utilizing the brain-body connection, similar to EMDR. My goal is to make therapy feel approachable, supportive, and to help carry the load to make each day a little lighter.
If you have trouble knowing where to start, I look forward in assisting you in finding where to place your first step.
A Little About Me
I find the greatest joy in connecting with humanity, my own and other’s. I try to partake in any artistic endeavor I can, including pottery, writing, stained glass creation, and carpentry. I enjoy reading and broadening my perspectives on the world and others around me. I also enjoy connecting with nature through hiking, meditating outdoors, and taking my two cats, Sonny and Charlie, or three legged dog, Clyde, on walks. I love finding ways to incorporate art, nature, and movement into my day to day life, in and out of the therapeutic space.
