What to Expect in a Session With Me
My approach as a therapist is person-centered and trauma-informed. I believe people can heal and grow in the context of a safe, nurturing relationship and that building trust and rapport is one of the most important parts of therapy. Our early counseling sessions will focus on creating a caring, supportive and non-judgmental space for you to process your emotions and life experiences. From there, we’ll collaborate in setting goals for therapy and talk about what you hope to gain from our time together.
Depending on your counseling goals, I may add in other modalities such as internal family systems/parts work, mindfulness, motivational interviewing and DBT. If you are interested in trauma therapy specifically, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and have used this modality to treat complex trauma, depression and PTSD.
No matter where you are on your counseling journey, I look forward to working with you!
A Little About Me
I’m someone who has many different interests and loves learning new things! I’m drawn to the medical field and have worked as a medical assistant in multiple different healthcare settings. I also love to read and draw, and I recently picked up web design which has been lots of fun to learn. I earned my B.A. in linguistics and have spent years tutoring and mentoring in academic spaces where I’ve cherished the opportunity to learn and grow alongside my clients. Through it all, I’ve been continuously amazed by people’s resilience, courage and creativity. I’m excited to meet you and begin our work together!
